Cree, Inc. announced that it has reached a confidential settlement in its patent infringement lawsuit with Kingbright, Inc. Kingbright and Cree have agreed to a royalty bearing, worldwide license to the Cree patents-in-suit, thereby ending the lawsuit between the parties.

#Google settles #Nest #patent dispute with #Honeywell

Google and Honeywell announced that they have reached a long-term patent cross-license agreement, putting an end to the patent litigation between Honeywell and Google’s subsidiary Nest Labs. Google and Honeywell said in a joint statement that they “believe that this patent accord promotes product innovation and consumer choice in the market for smart home products”. Terms of the agreement were not disclosed. Honeywell, a major producer of thermostats, sued Nest in 2012 for patent infringement.

#Smart Lenses: How Google’s Latest #Patent Could Change the World

In a recently approved #patent application, #Google explains a process of removing the lens of your eye, injecting fluid into your empty lens capsule, and then placing an electronic lens in the fluid. This lens would effectively turn your eyes into a pair of binoculars, giving you the ability to zoom in and out and focus on objects you couldn’t have before (weird, right?).
