Rovi renews entertainment discovery patent deal with Funai

#Rovi renewed its entertainment discovery #patent portfolio license agreement with #Funai Electric for its entertainment products. This license covers North America and expands upon Funai’s existing agreements with Rovi in Europe and Japan. Rovi’s platform-independent, technology agnostic IP portfolio is licensed to various companies around the world.

EMGS, PGS end Patent Dispute

Petroleum Geo-Services (#PGS) and Electromagnetic Geoservices (#EMGS) has reached a settlement agreement over a number of #patent disputes starting three years ago, when EMGS filed a complaint against PGS in the UK. The companies have granted each other mutual licenses to use the others patents and work on future EM surveys.

CG Technology sues DraftKings & FanDuel over multiple patent infringements

#CG Technology a US land based sports betting, claims that the #DraftKings and #FanDuel products have breached eight of its secured #patents. Filing a Nevada District Court appeal, Las Vegas-based CG Technology (former #Cantor Gaming Group) has sued daily fantasy sports (#DFS) operators DraftKings and FanDuel on multiple infringements of its patents.

ITC to review patent infringement ruling in Cisco/Arista case

Following an #ITC judge’s ruling in February that #Arista had infringed on three of #Cisco’s #patents, an administrative judge has now ruled that more investigation is needed. This means the ruling over the three patents in which Arista was found to be in violation – and a fourth in which it was not – will be reviewed and may be changed.

Google Invents an Electrocardiograph Device for Garments

Last week #USPTO published a pair of #patent applications from #Google regarding #Electrocardiograph devices. Google’s first invention covers an electrocardiograph device that users can place on their personal or sporting garments. When the device is worn accordingly, the wearer may obtain electrocardiographic measurements while involved in certain activities (e.g., while running or engaged in other forms of exercise) or throughout the day. The results from the electrocardiograph can be sent to the cloud for record keeping.
